In my life, the central theme has always been my dedication to justice: between men and women, rich and poor, south and north.
After several years as a social worker in socially deprived areas in Germany, I lived and worked with Caritas Honduras in a refugee camp – an experience that has shaped who I am today.
From 1989 until 2018, I have worked in various positions and – increasingly with part-time contracts – as a consultant in Church-based development services, my main focus being human and women’s rights and my main geographical area of work being Latin America.
Parallel to this work, I studied educational sciences and completed my qualification as a systemic organizational consultant.
As Equal Opportunities Officer in the federal Diaconie of Germany, I spent ten years establishing its focus on Gender Mainstreaming, equal job possibilities and work-life balance. I was the director of the Gender Mainstreaming and Diversity Management department at the University of Applied Sciences in Konstanz as well as the director of the Protestant Women’s Organisation in Württemberg. Apart from that, I advised the scholarship department of Bread for the World in terms of their strategic planning and team development.
